I received Namesake on dvd for Xmas and to my shame have still to watch it (I unfairly blame the tot and hubby for this oversight). If you haven't done so already perhaps you might enjoy reading Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni and Anita Desai. In fact, this has spurred me on and i've just ordered some more Desai books from Amazon! I look forward to reading your reviews.Plummy Mummyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06581505117908609291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4298570407595087518.post-5949129346794974372009-09-16T21:47:18.567+01:002009-09-16T21:47:18.567+01:00Aw, thanks. It expressed, I think, many universal feelings about the immigrant experience. I've been on a journey recently working my way through a number of 'Indian'-derived authors in English which I hope to be blogging about soon - so many topics, but so little time once work is done and the kids to bed!Ravenhttp://londonmasalaandchips.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4298570407595087518.post-13567411893292667652009-09-15T22:06:36.682+01:002009-09-15T22:06:36.682+01:00Thank you and welcome. That's something I would have liked to have gone to see. So many levels in which he interests me ...comedy, food, scots accent (my hubby has one of those), travel.
I'll be tuning in to more of your blog.
Have you read any Jhumpa Lahiri books? Predominately, they are about the Bengali experience in America. Some of it resonates with me.Plummy Mummyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06581505117908609291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4298570407595087518.post-71400520201252393872009-09-15T21:44:12.468+01:002009-09-15T21:44:12.468+01:00Hi - I've just tripped across your blog which ...Hi - I've just tripped across your blog which I've enjoyed reading. Good to read another south-east London mum blogging. Trouble is that despite getting readers, people often seem too shy to leave comments, so I thought I would this time! Look forward to reading more.Ravenhttp://londonmasalaandchips.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
