See Woo

After a lot of urging from a friend, I finally went into See Woo at the weekend. Full of great ingredients many of which are explained in English.
Unfortunately, unless you know which brands to buy, it's impossible to tell which taste the best. And in the case of some dried cassava sticks...how to cook them.
Wouldn't it be great if someone ran tours of foreign supermarkets and gave you tips on what to buy and how to cook it.
I need to make friends with experts in Thai and Chinese vegetarian cuisine. In return I can take said friends round Indian supermarkets.
Any takers?

Tours and demos would be an absolutely fabulous idea.

Bizzarely, a friend also keeps urging me to go to See Woo for the put-it-together-yourself Crispy Aromatic Duck. You can apparently buy the duck and pancakes to freeze, and the plum sauce separately, and then put it all together when you need them - she says they are very good, but I don't know which brands.

lalalalal vegetarian me can't hear you....lalalalala
I did see they had pancakes for making spring rolls which is good as I don't think I'd be able to get the pastry that thin.
The tofu we bought (fried bean curd but silly me chucked the package so no brand info!)went down really well esp with the tot who kept asking for more and more!
Get down there and then post what you bought :)

If you like See Woo's then try 5 fields beside Matalan's in Charlton, it's a bit more upmarket than the other one & they have a little place upstairs that sells Chinese style lunches ( 1 meat or 2 !!!). But the weird bit is the travelator that takes you upstairs....

Beabarb - yes I've been there thinking that it was SeeWoo ....didn't actually raise my head to look at the signs. I prefer the layout of 5 fields to be honest and the veg seemed was more fresh. That's where I bought kecap manis which is a lovely addition to fried rice.
